What's the true Cost of Peer to Peer Sharing?

Submitted by admin on Wed, 10/08/2008 - 15:36.

This Article from Ars Technica, shows that none of the costs of peer to peer file sharing are totally made up.  Its breathtaking in the exposure it gives to the RIAA/MPAA's lack of merit that the figures they give for piracy and peer to peer file sharing.the estimate of 750,000 jobs lost. Submitted by Song on Mon, 03/24/2008 - 00:26.

Ars Technica has a great article on the FBI's use of HoneyPots to find people interested in Child Pornography, with a link to an extended story at C|Net. A New Model for Wi Fi Service

Submitted by Song on Thu, 10/18/2007 - 07:00.

Here’s an interesting article from ars technica on community owned, public wi-fi access in the Toronto area called Wireless Nomad. It provides for community ownership of the ISP, and Requires users to provide open access to their user’s wifi hotspots.

This is a great idea, IMO (you use a credit union for your personal banking right?). Ars explains why this model won’t currently work in the United States. However, its a great argument for why you should share your wireless hot spot at home.
